Great Start to Quality- Michigan’s Quality Rating and Improvement System
Great Start to Quality measures the quality of early childhood programs and providers in Michigan by using more than 40 program quality indicators in specific areas. Based on a program's Self-Assessment Survey, Validation and possible on-site assessment, each program is given a Great Start to Quality Star Rating.
Our role as the local Resource Center is to assist all providers in our region. We do this by:
Supporting participation in Great Start to Quality
Providing technical assistance related to the use of websites, tools, and resources associated with Great Start to Quality
Providing on-site consultation for participation and quality improvement.

Search for Child Care Using Great Start to Quality
Great Start to Quality allows you to search all licensed programs in Michigan to find the best care for your child and family. You can use Great Start to Quality as a tool to help you look up and compare early childhood programs to find the best child care. We are here to support families who do not have internet access, or families needing assistance using Great Start to Quality.

Great Start to Quality Orientation
The Great Start to Quality Orientation Level 1 Training is a seven hour training provided for those interested in participating as license exempt caregivers in the Michigan Department of Education – Office of Great Start’s Child Development and Care (CDC) subsidy program.
