Child CAre Specialist Development Apprenticeship Program

What is the Child Care Development Specialist Apprenticeship Program? View the flyers to the right for more information.

The two-year apprenticeship program includes:

  • 288 live in-class hours

  • 4000 on-the-job hours

  • a partnering mentor teacher

  • an assigned Community Programs Specialist

  • completing the CDA credential, including the portfolio, exam, and verification visit

  • books and resources to complete all classes

The employer must have a licensed child care program in Branch, Genesee, Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, or Washtenaw counties where the apprentices will work.
